Defibrillators save lives – cardiac arrest out of hospital usually leads to death but CPR could save up to 10% of victims.  Defibrillators in conjunction with CPR could make a difference to 75% of cases.

Michael Godfrey, a well known and popular local tradesman (whose company, Cheadle Hulme Property Services STILL receives calls and emails asking for work to be done) left four children without their beloved Dad when he collapsed and died in June 2014, following a cardiac arrest while playing football.

Michael Godfrey - Defibrillators Cheadle Hulme

Although Michael had previously had a couple of heart issues, these had been dealt with and he was very fit and healthy, running about five miles twice a week – and absolutely loved his footy. Maybe things would’ve been different had there been more defibrillators locally. I Love Cheadle Hulme’s Kate, his widow, and her four children will never know, but she’s adamant she doesn’t want anyone else’s family to suffer: “I don’t want ANYONE’S children to go through what mine have, so we’re raising funds to place defibrillators at sports facilities in or around Cheadle Hulme. Maybe they’ll never be needed – I hope not – but they could make all the difference to someone’s family. Millie’s Trust will be providing the defibrillators at cost so we’d also like to help them out.”

There’s a junior tournament in the morning, followed by the adults (and veterans!) in the afternoon, but there will also be a whole host of other activities – not all of them football related, including (but not limited to!):

  • Fairground rides
  • Games
  • penalty shoot-out
  • Shot speed radar
  • pony rides
  • food
  • stalls
  • Millie’s Trust stall and Geoffrey Giraffe

We’d love lots more raffle prizes from our lovely local businesses – and if anyone would like to have a presence, or a stall – on the day in return for a small donation you’d be very welcome.

Support for the day would be much appreciated due to the scale of events taking place. Kate’s oldest son, Joe’s, overwhelming memory of last year’s tournament was getting to the Kenny for the Euro 2016 final and almost immediately falling asleep!! Kate didn’t even MAKE it to the pub – but hopes to enjoy a well earned glass of Prosecco or two this year.
