I LOVE The Hesketh 2019

The Hesketh has continually established itself as a firm favourite not only amongst those residing in Cheadle Hulme but also the surrounding areas.

Long-known for warm hospitality, welcoming atmosphere and arguably the best carvery in the Stockport area, it’s no wonder this local gem has continually bucked the trend and thrived in an era whereby traditional public houses have been replaced by an influx of contemporary gastropubs.

For years, pubs have often been branded with a stereotype of being a backdrop predominantly occupied by males popping in for a pint with their friends. Kate Evans, Marketing Manager, has highlighted how The Hesketh caters for a diverse clientele:

“Our pub is a wonderful, traditional establishment that’s popular with a wide range of people. We cater for families, ladies who like to lunch, as well as gentlemen who like to enjoy a drink at the bar with their friends. We go above and beyond in making people feel welcome; we want Mums and kids to feel comfortable when visiting, we’re not a men’s only pub and can cater to the needs of everyone.”

The carvery at The Hesketh is regarded as being one of the best carveries in the Stockport area, but the pub has much more to offer than succulent meat and golden roasties: “While our carvery is delicious, we have much more to offer.” Proclaimed Kate. “Our pizza and prosecco offer runs from Monday to Saturday for £25; that’s a bottle of prosecco and any pizza of your choice.

As is the case with every pub, a high-quality function room is an added bonus. The Hesketh not only provide exemplary service in food and drink but have recently added function room facilities to their list of facilities for customers:

“Our function room facilities are a brand-new addition and offer customers the chance to enjoy their special occasion in style. We can cater for a whole host of events such as birthdays, christenings and weddings; all details will be posted on the website in due course, so please do keep your eyes out for more information!”

The Hesketh strive to serve the very best in hospitality for its customers, and the team’s lofty-standards have been recognised at well-renowned, respected award ceremonies:

“We’ve won the Stockport Business Awards 2018 for the Best Food and Drink Business in Stockport. That was for Almond Family Pubs, who are our umbrella company; we’re going for the Best Food and Drink award, Best Family Business, as well as Best Employer at the Stockport Business Awards.”

The past achievements of the establishment are well-known, yet the future is looking even brighter for The Hesketh, with an exciting dawn on the horizon:

“We’re doing really well and we have plenty of exciting things on the table at the minute, with brand activations and so forth; we’re so excited to be working with Tanqueray and Diageo who are the owners of the brand. In terms of future developments and improvements, we want to continue pleasing our existing customers but we’re keen to showcase our other talents, other than our amazing carvery!”

Amongst their repertoire of talents, The Hesketh also has an enviable selection of gins available; Kate provided an insight as to why fans of the tasty beverage will be in their element when visiting: “We do some incredible gin and tonics, we’ve just launched a new menu; our gins are served to perfection with plenty of fruit, delicious tonic and great gin – there are in excess of thirty-five gins to choose from now, so we have an awful lot to offer, it’s not just a pint and a carvery.”

The Hesketh are flourishing in an industry whereby pubs are closing every week and have survived the dark ages to continue offering superb services, but the recipe for success isn’t a secret guarded under lock and key: “Our pubs are well managed. The Almond family have worked in the industry for over one-hundred years and are aware of what customers want; they invest money into making sure the decor is nice and that the pub is somewhere that people want to come. We’re proactive, not reactive and act in accordance with industry trends.”
