We are asked SO often about tradesmen and builders. It can be such a minefield to find someone with the skillset, talent and experience you need – and who you can trust in your home.
Add to that the potential cost of home improvements and it’s easy to see how difficult it can be to find the right professional. Step forward then, Mike Gauci, of the long-established Gauci Decorators.
Mike comes highly recommended by a list of clients as long as your arm. Longer, probably. He works with our favourite paint suppliers, Bromborough Paints Cheadle Hulme on Stanley Green – so you can be sure he also uses excellent quality materials without adding the cost of the earth to his rates. Bromborough can mix ANY paint from ANY brand in ANY colour and ANY finish – and they too began life as a small family company.
Some of Gauci Decorators’ clients are really rather well known – including former England footballer and one-time manager of Manchester City, Kevin Keegan; as well as Jason Orange, formerly of everyone’s favourite boy band, Take That. Obviously, some of the celebrity clients’ names can’t be divulged – but he’s also worked on several National Trust properties over the past ten years – including Lyme Hall, Dunham Massey and the Quarry Bank Mill estate at Styal. That’s quite some testimonial! One of his favourite jobs was the mansion at Lyme Hall – the south elevation looks out over the lake and must’ve been quite stunning to work in.
Such high-profile jobs necessitate real attention to detail and demand replicating heritage colours faithfully (thank goodness once more for Bromborough Paints Cheadle Hulme) but Gauci Decorators point out that that’s the level of service ALL their clients can expect. The domestic market is, as Mike says, the lifeblood of any small business – and everyone’s home is their castle, however diminutive.
Mike lives locally and loves working locally. He’s worked for himself for over thirty years – but has been decorating even longer than that, so if experience is what you’re after, you need look no further. He’s not just experienced – he also loves his work. It’s always a good idea to hire someone who loves what they do – it really shows in the finished job. He says he enjoys wallpapering and loves the trend for hand-painted kitchens and furniture. Gauci Decorators are all about ‘turning your ideas into reality’.
We asked Mike what people in Cheadle Hulme putting on their walls these days? Wallpaper is enjoying a resurgence. Feature walls have been popular for a while now, but more and more of us are wallpapering the whole room. Geometric and retro designs remain popular as do brick or wood effects. However, the big, beautiful blowsy florals and fleur-de-lys look incredible in the right room. We still want to keep our décor appropriate to the age and style of our houses but many of us are opting for a simple, Scandi finish and really making the most of space and light.
Whatever you choose, for whatever room, Mike at Gauci Decorators can bring it to life for you.
